孔雀石（マカライト）から作られる顔料の色で、明るく鈍い青緑色。銅が酸化した際に生じる錆の色から名付けられた。 日本画においても緑系の代表的な伝統色で、飛鳥時代に中国から色名とともに伝来した。 古くから建築物や彫刻の彩色に用いられ、その美しい色合いは自然や風景を表現する際に重宝されている。 A bright, dull blue-green color of pigment made from peacockite (macallite).
