早春に八重咲きの花をつける乙女椿の花のような、やや黄みを含んだ淡い紅色。 乙女椿は江戸時代に品種改良されたもので、別名「淡乙女（うすおとめ）」。 鴇色（ときいろ）とも呼ばれ、鴇の羽のような、薄桃色を指す。 It has a pale red color with a slight yellow tinge, like the double-flowered camellia flower of the maidenhair camellia in early spring. The otome camellia was bred in the Edo period (1603-1867) and is also known as “light otome.
