yunagi(夕凪)

This work is a photo tracing work based on photographs taken in Tosashimizu, Kochi Prefecture in September 2024. It is also a slightly special work named after my creator name, “Yunagi. The setting is a ship repair dock in a corner of the harbor in the town where I was born and raised. 2024 saw many earthquakes in Japan, reminding me once again that this town where I live will also be hit by a huge earthquake in the not too distant future. Against this backdrop, I decided to create this work to capture the beautiful sunset scenery of early September, when the smell of midsummer had not yet left the air. Yunagi” means evening calm in English, a phenomenon that occurs mainly in the southwestern region of Japan on the evening of a clear day in midsummer.
